How to Change the Password on a Windows Server

Step 1: Log in to the Server

1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP) client on your local machine.
2. Enter the IP address or hostname of the Windows server.
3. Click "Connect."
4. When prompted, enter your current username and password.

Step 2: Open the Ctrl+Alt+Del Screen

1. Once logged in, press `Ctrl+Alt+End` on your keyboard. This combination is used instead of `Ctrl+Alt+Del` when using RDP.
2. The Windows Security screen will appear.

Step 3: Change the Password

1. Click on "Change a password..."
2. Enter your old password in the "Old Password" field.
3. Enter your new password in the "New Password" field.
4. Confirm your new password by entering it again in the "Confirm Password" field.
5. Click the arrow button (or press Enter) to submit the changes.

Step 4: Confirmation

1. If the password is changed successfully, you will receive a confirmation message.
2. If there is an error (e.g., not meeting complexity requirements), follow the instructions to correct it and try again.

Step 5: Update Saved Credentials

  1. If you have saved your credentials in the RDP client or other applications, make sure to update them with your new password.
    2. Ensure all services and scripts that use this account are updated with the new password to avoid disruptions.
